The most hotly anticipated launch to date from Welsh hi-fi aficionados Leema Acoustics; the Stream III CD player and the Pulse III amplifier.
The previous versions of Leema’s award-winning Stream & Pulse proved to be a huge success, providing an unbeatable combination of outstanding sound quality, excellent build, styling and ergonomics. The new Stream III and Pulse III take this as a starting point and then completely re-define what is achievable, with even better performance, stunning good looks, and an incredible array of useful new features.
The Stream III CD player features an all-new slot loading transport controlled by Leema’s own custom firmware providing secure and reliable disc handling and the best retrieval of digital information, with less jitter and digital error than off-the-shelf drives and software.
The new Leema Quad DAC is a refinement of Leema’s own highly successful MD2 Multi-DAC giving a shorter signal path and even better performance. The Stream III features a USB digital output enabling bit-perfect digital archiving.
Leema advances in circuit topology and software development; ideas that were pioneered in the state-of-the-art Leema Reference Series amplifiers and subsequently featured in the What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision 2009 award-winning Tucana II, are incorporated in the Pulse III to produce an amplifier with incredible detail and resolution, vanishingly low noise and distortion, and that always communicates with an infectious musicality.
Fully loaded with features, the Pulse III includes a new higher resolution phono stage that is compatible with either moving magnet or moving coil cartridges. The six analogue inputs are complimented by a front panel mounted 3.5mm input, which provides easy connection of MP3 players and other portable music sources.
Both the Stream III CD player and the Pulse III amplifier also feature digital inputs: four are included on each component: two optical, one coax and one USB. The award-winning performance for which Leema is renowned can now be extended to achieve stunning results from external digital sources such as Sky TV, the Sonos music server, or Sony’s PS3.
Leema’s new Navimech system provides delightfully simple and intuitive control for both units. The elegantly svelte fascias are machined from solid aluminium by Leema’s state-of-the-art metalworker who spends his time, when not producing Leema Acoustics casework, machining critical engine and suspension components for many of the leading Formula 1 motor racing teams. These beautifully made components will be launched in a choice of high quality black or white finishes.
