Pink Floyd - The Wall (2LP/Gat/ 2025)

Pink Floyd – The Wall is one of the most ambitious and instantly recognisable albums in rock history. Released in 1979, the band's eleventh studio album was conceived largely by Roger Waters as a sprawling concept album exploring isolation, loss, fame and the emotional barriers people build around themselves.

Across its extraordinary sequence of songs, The Wall tells the story of Pink, a troubled rock star gradually retreating from the world behind a metaphorical wall. "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2" became one of Pink Floyd's biggest hits, while "Comfortably Numb", "Hey You", "Run Like Hell" and "Mother" rank among the band's most enduring songs. Shorter pieces, recurring musical ideas and sound effects connect everything together, making this an album that really rewards being heard from beginning to end.

Musically, it moves effortlessly between huge rock performances, intimate acoustic passages, orchestral arrangements and unsettling theatrical moments. David Gilmour's guitar work provides some of the album's greatest highlights – most famously the soaring solos on "Comfortably Numb" – while producer Bob Ezrin helped turn Waters' enormous concept into a remarkably cohesive record.

Dark, dramatic and occasionally deliberately uncomfortable, The Wall is far more than a collection of classic Pink Floyd songs. It is a complete piece of storytelling that went on to inspire an elaborate live production and feature film, and remains one of the defining concept albums ever made.
