The Utopia codes are visually represented by the tweeter's dual red and black grille and the ‘ribbon’ surrounding the tweeter in a yin-yang formation, symbolising the harmony of craftsmanship and technology. "M" profile Béryllium TBM Tweeter

Fine sound and low directionality

Beryllium is the only metal capable of scratching glass due to its high rigidity, and is the material of choice for tweeter diaphragms. Two years of research and development at Focal have resulted in the shaping of an inverted dome in pure Beryllium capable of covering more than five octaves. An exclusive technology that they have combined with another major innovation: the "M" profile, which brings two decisive advantages: an even lower directivity of sound, for an ever more flexible listening position, and a significant gain in dome rigidity, which further reduces distortion and thus delivers quality sound. It is combined with a larger coil (25 mm) for unrivalled power handling.

TMD suspension

Stabilized surround, eliminates vibrations

While engineers are experts in the development of exclusive diaphragms, they also innovate in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behavior of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.
