OST - Dirty Dancing 35th Anniv (1LP Melon Picture Disc)
Dirty Dancing – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is one of the defining movie soundtracks of the 1980s, forever associated with the romance, dancing and unmistakable atmosphere of the hugely popular 1987 film. Mixing contemporary recordings with classic soul and rock 'n' roll, the music became every bit as memorable as the film itself.
At its heart is Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' "(I've Had) The Time of My Life", the enormous closing number that became inseparable from Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey's climactic dance. The soundtrack also features Swayze's own "She's Like the Wind", Eric Carmen's "Hungry Eyes" and the brilliantly infectious "Yes" by Merry Clayton.
Alongside the '80s material are songs that establish the film's early-'60s setting, including The Ronettes' "Be My Baby", The Five Satins' "In the Still of the Night" and Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs' "Stay". It is that mixture of old and new that gives the soundtrack so much of its character, moving easily between romantic ballads, soul, pop and dancefloor favourites.
Released to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Dirty Dancing, this edition revisits a soundtrack that became a phenomenon in its own right. Hugely nostalgic, instantly recognisable and packed with songs that remain tied to some of the film's most famous scenes, it is an essential soundtrack to one of the best-loved movies of the 1980s.
